Books, Newspapers, and Letters in Nineteenth-Century Painting, Read, Read, Read!

Giovanni Zust Art Gallery, Canton Ticino
This major exhibition (over 80 paintings and sculptures of superb quality) will be held at the Pinacoteca Cantonale Giovanni ZΓΌst in Rancate, Canton Ticino, just a few miles from the Italian border. Together these artworks recount the most important of revolutions - an upheaval that was not accompanied by the thunder of cannons, but took place in the silence of homes and schools: the reading revolution.
This nineteenth century transformation will be investigated not only between Ticino and Italy, two territories geographically bordering and culturally close, but will also compare works from Switzerland, with a section dedicated to the famous Swiss artist Albert Anker (1831-1910).
