Canaletto, Bellotto, Guardi and Italian Vedutisti , The Splendour of Venice

Martinengo Palace, Brescia
From January 23 to June 12, 2016, at Palazzo Martinengo in Brescia, The Splendour of Venice; Canaletto, Bellotto, Guardi and the Vedutists of the Nineteenth Century, promoted by the Cultural Association Friends of Palazzo Martinengo, under the patronage of the Province of Brescia and the City of Brescia. This exhibition celebrates Venice, the Italian city that more than any other has always been a timeless myth in the collective imagination.
Curated by Davide Dotti, The Splendour of Venice presents more than one hundred masterpieces by Canaletto, Bellotto, Guardi and the most important vedutisti of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Loans from public and private collections, Italian and international, show how this iconographic trend, passed into history with the name of Vedutismo, will not end with the experience of Francesco Guardi, but will continue throughout the entire nineteenth century.
