Zabarella Palace, Giovanni Fattori

Zabarella Palace, Padua
This extraordinary exhibition will feature Fattori's famous tablets, his monumental paintings of Risorgimento subjects, magnificent portraits and scenes of popular life. Seen together they will reveal Giovanni Fattori (Livorno, 1825 - Florence, 1908) as the absolute protagonist not only of Macchiaioli painting, but also of naturalism at the end of the century. Because of his long life and the quality and quantity of his paintings Fattori was known throughout Europe. The experimentation of the "macchia", to which he gave a decisive contribution, was only one of the phases of a greater and more varied experience.
