Women in the arts: from Titian to Boldini

Palazzo Martinengo, Brescia
After the great success of the last six exhibitions, the Associazione Amici di Palazzo Martinengo continues its research on themes of great social relevance presenting an exhibition dedicated to the representation of women in the arts from the XVI century to the Belle Époque.
Thanks to a selection of around 100 works coming from prestigious museums, art galleries, and private collections, it will be possible to delve into this fascinating subject with the aim of showing how women always had a central role in the history of Italian art. The most important Renaissance, Baroque, and modern painters – from Raphael to Titian, from Caravaggio to Tiepolo, from Zandomeneghi to De Nittis up to Boldini – portrayed both aristocratic and common women and managed to capture the character, elegance, sensuality, and all the other different facets of the female universe.
